In dedication to the memory of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, offering of special prayers and lighting of butter lamps in sacred monasteries and temples across the country are being held for 7 days, starting from 14th October 2016. Offering of prayers and lighting of butter lamps are also being conducted in all the 20 Dzongkhags.
As a mark of respect, the National Flag was hoisted at half-mast for the past 3 days, starting from 14th October 2016.
