The Department of Local Governance is organizing a Leadership and Management Training for the elected Local Government Functionaries. The training is being conducted region-wise. Participants from central & eastern Dzongkhags are being trained at Sherubtse College while participants from the southern and western Dzongkhags are being trained at Royal Institute of Management. The training are conducted in batches.

The training is aimed at achieving following objectives:

·      Introduce the concept of leadership behaviors/styles to the participants
·      Build their leadership and management skills
·      Develop knowledge skills and attitude of leaders
·      To build/enhance their interpersonal skills to better deal with community
·      Enhance their communication skills
·      To better equip them to take up their leadership roles

The first two batches of Leadership and Management training for the LG Functionaries commenced from 28th November. The opening session of training were graced by Dasho Dzongdag, Trashigang Dzongkhag and Director General, Department of Local Governance at Sherubtse College, Kanglung and Royal Institute of Management in Thimphu respectively.

28 participants (15 Gups and 13 female Mangmis) from seven eastern Dzonghags are attending the training at Sherubtse College and 32 participants (23 Gups and 9 Mangmis) from ten southern and western Dzongkhags are attending the training at RIM, Thimphu.

The two weeks long training is being organized by Department of Local Governance and conducted by Sherubtse College and Royal Institute of Management (RIM) at Kanglung, Trashigang and Thimphu simultaneously. The training for the first two batches will end on 9th December 2016.
